You and Your Post can serve in a very positive way through similar srevice.

The link below will bear witness that our efforts to help in our community and elsewhere can bear fruit if we stay focused and hang in there.

This effort has taken almost a year and half to get going and now we have many Churches participating and more being added as well as organizations and small to medium city/county government coming on board.

In the group ln the article you have a bit more latitude then in a purely secular group but must still choose your words and analogies wisely.

This is an article that appeared recently in the our Local News Paper:  http://www.thestarpress.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060130/NEWS01/601300343/1002

Point being this could just as easily be your Ministry making news preparing the Body of Christ in Preparing for the hard times to come.  God did NOT promise things would wax better and better but instead that they would wax worse and worse until the end of the current age.  (Matthew 24:6 - 13)  as members of the Body of Christ and are expected to be the ones extending ourselves to help those in need, it behoves us to be better prepared to handle the Natural Disasters that will occur.

Remember we have been given all things freely to use and what better then to get involved with an organization that will give us "FREE" training in exchange for getting involved in the very thing we are to be doing.

Yield to the Move of the Holy Spirit and let this be a form of Ministry in your individual, household, or corporate lives.

Till we meet again In-Jesus May God bless your and yours all your undertakings in doing the work of Ministry in the name of our Lord, Christ Jesus.

The McCormick and Digman Wedding 10 Feb 2006 Held in VFW Post 651 Main Hall

Micki and Mark McCormick were Married at 7 P.M. 10 Feb 2006 at the VFW Post 651, Muncie among family, friends and comrades of the Post where Micki is a Life Member.

The main hall has a capacity of about 125 persons and the wedding party was that and maybe a little more. The downstairs and upstairs was use to get it all together.

Micki wanted a really patriotic Wedding theme and dressed all the flower girls and ring bearers in red white and blue.  The Cake and all the decorations were also USA Themed!

As the Post Chaplain, I had the pleasure of being asked to solemnize the couple in holy matrimony.  I can see from their pastoral counseling session and the wonderful support that the family demonstrated that this couple has great times ahead.

On our photos link you will find pictures of the happy couple.

Please check them out and sign our guest book.

Thank You,

Chaplain Jacobsen

Remembering the Past while moving into the future; Fall 2005

<Its fall 2005 in Muncie Indiana and I am finding myself working on several different volunteer projects; two for American Red Cross, several for United Veterans Council, and this one right now for American Legion Post 19 Muncie.>

<It is, I have found for the old guard to be somewhat apprehensive of new technology and new fanged ways that some one who is also new to an organization or group may want to introduce into that organization or system.  It’s ok to be cautious, but being too cautious is a bad thing.  One someone says to us about a program or system upgrade; try it for free.  I automatically think there is going to be some charge down the road.>

<Then there is the; the _______? _____ is absolutely free, so give it a try approach.  Well as we all know there is no free lunch, and somebody somewhere is paying for whatever we are being offered for free.  So what is the angle?  Who is going to profit from our using whatever is being offered and how do I know we aren’t being taken unfair advantage of.  Usually the answer is pretty simple, the “they” who offer whatever to us are interested in putting their foot in our door and having access to us in some sort of way or another.  Nothing more then that, and nothing less then that>.

<So is it so bad to have access to us to get something we want or need for free otherwise?

I think not, that is not most of the time, as long as it doesn’t become too invasive.  I work at keeping the invasive part to a minimum and mostly I do that by disciplining myself to what I do allow myself to click on and in so doing I am in some form or another the one who in a manner of speaking chooses to answer and open the door, or not.>

<It really isn’t so different from our group participation and volunteer activities, as we look around and choose what we become involved in.  We look at who is already doing what and where and with whom.  We then size up our ability to be of any help or support and follow up speaking up, signing up and going and doing, or simply financially supporting the cause we ourselves have chosen to get involved with.>

<A word of caution is worth noting here; if you buy, build, or own / lease it, there will be ongoing financial needs to support and maintain it, whatever it is.  Additionally someone will need to have stewardship responsibility and that translates into people power doing the work needed to start it, maintain it and pass on the continuity to the next group that follows up in whomever’s’ footsteps.  This might be time to consider outsourcing or sub contracting the job or effort of oversight for running the program or project.  Although I am not so inclined to do so personally.>
